Air Bud (film)
Josh was twelve years old and had just moved to Washington State with his mother Jackie and little sister Andrea after his father passed away in a plane crash and was too shy to make new friends or try out for the middle school basketball team. He met and befriended a golden retriever named Buddy who had escaped from his abusive owner, an alcoholic clown named Norman Snively. Snively had locked Buddy in a kennel after causing trouble at a birthday party and was taking him to the dog pound when the kennel fell off the truck.
Josh soon learned that Buddy had the uncanny ability to play basketball. Josh's mom initially only agreed to let him keep the dog until Christmas and she planned to send him to the pound if the true owner wasn't found. However, Josh's mother saw how much Josh loved Buddy and vice versa.
When Josh woke up on Christmas Day and Buddy was not in his room, he went downstairs and saw Buddy with a bow on his head. Jackie gave Buddy to Josh as a Christmas present.
Josh wanted to join the basketball team but was chickened out at the last minute and became the water boy. After two slots are opened up and learning of Buddy's talent, Josh tried out (despite basketball coach Joe Barker's reluctance) and made the team. At his first game Buddy showed up and disrupted the game and caused mayhem, but the audience loved him, even after he scored a basket. After the game Buddy found Coach Barker abusing Tom, one of Josh's teammates and friend who gave him a lucky orange peel he got at a Seattle SuperSonics game, by trying to make him catch better by pelting him with basketballs.
Barker was fired and replaced by the school's engineer, Arthur Chaney, who Josh discovered was a former New York Knicks player. Buddy became the mascot of Josh's school's basketball team and began appearing in their halftime shows. But just before the championship game, Buddy's former owner, Snively (after seeing Buddy on TV), purposefully tricked his mom and stole Buddy from Josh. Josh then infiltrates Snively's backyard where Buddy is chained up. Snively could not see him and tried to catch him when Josh was trying to rescue Buddy.
A few minutes after the chase, Josh then decides to set Buddy free to find someone else. Initially, his team is losing at the championship until Buddy shows up. When it is discovered that there is no rule that a dog cannot play basketball, Buddy joins the roster to lead the team to a come from behind championship victory.
Snively sued the Framms' for custody of Buddy. Fortunately, at the suggestion of coach Chaney, who the judge was a fan of, it was decided that the dog would choose who will be his rightful owner. During the calling, Snively took out his roll of newspaper, which he often used to beat Buddy, and snapped at him, causing Buddy to attack Snively, tearing up the weapon of abuse and ran towards Josh. The judge granted custody of Buddy to Josh while Snively, who ran at Buddy and Josh in a last-ditched effort to get the dog back, was dragged away by the police and arrested, while Josh and the rest of the citizens rejoiced for the new home of Buddy.
Air Bud: Golden Receiver
Josh (now a teenager) became angry when his mom Jackie began dating Patrick Sullivan, the town's new veterinarian. It all started when Sullivan innocently tossed Josh's basketball-savvy dog, Buddy, a football one day, and he discovered that Buddy also has an uncanny ability to play the sport of football. Soon enough, Buddy began playing on the Timberwolves football team.
Josh ran away from home one night when Patrick proposed to his mother and Buddy was kidnapped by two Russian siblings who had hopes of having him perform as the special attraction in the Russian circus. His coach finds him and convinces him that just because Patrick is in his life now, he doesn't have to stop loving his father and he returns home, but Patrick is gone and Buddy is missing. Josh, not knowing that Buddy had been kidnapped, looked everywhere for Buddy but he could not find him and was forced to play with the Timberwolves in the championship football without Buddy and was unable to win.
Meanwhile, Patrick found Buddy and took him to the game. With his help, they caught up, but Buddy was tackled and taken out of the game. The team was forced to finish it without him and thanks to Josh and Tom, they won. Later, Josh stopped Patrick from leaving and convinced him to stay.
Air Bud: World Pup
By this time, Josh and Tom were in high school.
Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch
Josh had graduated from high school and was heading to college with his best friend, Tom. Andrea, with the help of Buddy, managed to stop Josh's bus so that she could say goodbye after she hid out in a clothes dryer when she got upset over Josh leaving. Josh gave her a watch given to him by their father and hugged her and Buddy before departing.
Josh returned during the Timberwolves baseball championship game against the Baboons and cheered his sister on. At some point later, he joined his family as Buddy played first base at an Anaheim Angels game.

Total appearances: 5.
- Josh is the only member of the Framm family to be portrayed by the same actor (Kevin Zegers) throughout all his appearances. Due to the character going to college in Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch, Zegers is reduced to a supporting role (even the opening credits reflect this, where they say who he plays). Spikes Back is the first film not to feature Zegers or Josh.
